Currently seeking an experienced Production Manager for a Salisbury-based automotive manufacturer specializing in high-performance driveshafts, CV axles, and custom drivetrain components for street and racing applications.
The Production Manager will lead high-mix/low-volume (HMLV) manufacturing operations, overseeing assembly, shipping, scheduling, inventory, and production across multiple departments. This hands-on leader will lead safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement while developing teams, optimizing workflows, increasing productivity, reducing backlog, and eliminating operational inefficiencies in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead daily manufacturing and assembly operations across axle, metal driveshaft, carbon fiber driveshaft, shipping, and related support areas.
• Coordinate production priorities with scheduling, engineering, quality, inventory, and sales teams to support on-time delivery and backlog reduction.
• Support company goals related to shipment velocity, customer experience, and manufacturing efficiency
• Monitor and improve throughput, WIP levels, labor utilization, and production flow across departments.
• Supervise managers, supervisors, and production employees, including coaching, accountability, discipline, performance evaluations, and staffing recommendations.
• Drive operational KPI reporting, including throughput, backlog, WIP pressure, RTFT%, shipment velocity, and production output trends.
• Support implementation and adherence to standard operating procedures, safety requirements, quality standards, and 5S initiatives.
• Partner with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve production constraints, workflow bottlenecks, and recurring operational issues.
• Coordinate training and cross-training activities to improve operational flexibility and workforce coverage.
• Support ERP system utilization and operational reporting within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and related reporting tools.
• Participate in strategic operational planning and operational improvement initiatives.
• Support new product launches, equipment installations, and process improvement projects.
• Assist the leadership team with capacity planning and labor balancing.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 5 years experience leading production teams within a high-mix manufacturing job shop environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate operational priorities, coaching feedback, safety expectations, and production updates verbally and in writing.
• Ability to analyze production metrics, labor efficiency, throughput data, inventory trends, and operational KPIs.
• Ability to identify production bottlenecks, prioritize competing operational demands, and implement corrective actions in a fast-paced environment. Experience with MS Office, ERP systems for reporting, metrics and KPI review.
