A well-established and growing food manufacturing company specializing in Hispanic dairy products is seeking an experienced Production Manager to join its plant. This is a leadership role created as part of a long-term succession planning strategy.

Key Responsibilities
Production Operations

Oversee daily manufacturing activities to ensure on-time production and shipment
Execute production schedules while optimizing labor, equipment, and materials
Maintain close operational oversight through reporting, meetings, and floor presence
Ensure effective workflow coordination across departments

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement
Lead productivity and operational excellence initiatives
Review and update standard operating procedures to improve performance and quality

Equipment & Facility Management

Support maintenance and optimal performance of production equipment
Participate in capital equipment planning, installations, and facility upgrades
Coordinate plant layout changes and track project timelines

Safety, Compliance & Environmental Responsibility

Develop and enforce workplace safety programs in compliance with OSHA
Ensure adherence to GMPs and food safety standards (FSSC 22000)
Oversee accident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
Promote safe work practices and strong housekeeping standards

Financial & Operational Performance

Monitor labor costs and production efficiency
Ensure operations align with budget and operational targets
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives

Leadership & Personnel Management

Lead, coach, and evaluate production supervisors and team members
Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development
Address employee relations and disciplinary actions when needed
Partner with HR on job descriptions and compensation initiatives

Organizational Effectiveness

Evaluate organizational structure and recommend improvements
Foster a positive, accountable, and communicative work environment


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required (Dairy or Cheese-related degree preferred)
5+ years of management experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
PCQI and HACCP preferred
Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
