Job Summary

We are seeking a Product Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in Union City, CA within a computer hardware manufacturing environment. This role supports production readiness, product quality, engineering changes, process documentation, test improvement, and Proof of Concept product builds for pilot and mass production.

The Product Engineer will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Test, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Engineering teams to improve production performance and ensure smooth execution on the production floor. Key Responsibilities

- Create, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, production instructions, and Quality Control checklists for pilot and mass production.
- Analyze production test logs, test results, and manufacturing procedures to identify opportunities to improve quality, yield, efficiency, and cost.
- Manage and support engineering changes, including ECNs and ECOs, while coordinating documentation, training, production schedules, and labor standards.
- Build, modify, and maintain test automation tools, scripts, fixtures, and related production test support systems.
- Support troubleshooting of hardware, software, operating system, and production test issues in a computer hardware manufacturing environment.
- Build and document Proof of Concept products, validate manufacturability and test coverage, and support production readiness for new configurations.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $90,000 to $120,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Develop and implement production documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and QC checklists.
- Support engineering change implementation across production lines, including training and documentation.
- Analyze production testing data and drive improvements in quality, yield, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Build and support POC product configurations, test tools, scripts, fixtures, and production readiness activities.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Electronic, or Computing Engineering.
- 6 to 10 years of relevant product engineering, production engineering, manufacturing engineering, or technical production experience.
- Knowledge of computer hardware specifications, system-level components, production methods, and manufacturing processes.
- Required knowledge of Linux-based platforms and working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Ability to support production testing, troubleshoot technical issues, and work with hardware, software, and operating system-related test concerns.
- Strong documentation skills with excellent attention to detail in procedures, test results, work instructions, and process execution.
- Ability to manage engineering changes while balancing production schedules, training needs, labor standards, and quality requirements.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to train production teams and collaborate across Manufacturing, Quality, Test, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Engineering.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with test automation, scripting, and production test environments.
- Knowledge of MES systems.
- Experience with repair processes, failure analysis, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience supporting pilot production, mass production, and new product configuration builds.
- Experience documenting POC builds, lessons learned, test coverage, and manufacturability findings.
