Product Development Manager – Cosmetics & Personal Care
Location: Chatsworth, CA (On-site with potential hybrid flexibility)
Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000/year DOE + Bonus

About the Role
We are seeking a Product Development Manager (PDM) with strong, recent experience in the cosmetics/personal care industry. This is a dynamic role that blends account management and project management, guiding clients through the full product lifecycle — from concept to launch.
The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, has a passion for beauty innovation, and excels at building strong client relationships. Experience in contract manufacturing is a significant plus.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary contact for clients, managing projects from conception to completion.
Identify new product trends, innovation opportunities, and ingredient suppliers.
Initiate and execute product proposals, ensuring cross-functional alignment.
Collaborate with engineering on feasibility and tooling.
Evaluate formula submissions, provide feedback, and manage re-directs.
Oversee clinical and external product testing timelines (stability, compatibility, RIPT, OTC compliance).
Coordinate pilots, artwork, fill weight claims, and QA confirmations.
Partner with regulatory teams to ensure compliance with packaging, claims, and formulas.
Provide pricing updates for new and existing projects.
Work with R&D to deliver technical product information for marketing and packaging copy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Proven product development experience in cosmetics, bath & body, spa, or personal care.
Knowledge of personal care technology and innovative ingredients.
Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects under deadlines.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Highly detail-oriented with strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
