Job Summary
A growing commercial general contractor in the Orlando and Central Florida area is seeking an experienced Pre-Con Manager to lead estimating and pre-construction efforts from early concept through project turnover. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a construction professional who brings strong commercial estimating expertise, polished communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
The Pre-Con Manager will play a key role in supporting commercial projects across office, medical, retail, religious, interior renovation, interior build-out, and ground-up construction sectors. Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle estimating and pre-construction activities for commercial construction projects from concept through final bid.
- Prepare conceptual budgets, schematic estimates, design development pricing, GMP estimates, and lump sum bids.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, pricing evaluations, and value engineering recommendations.
- Solicit, qualify, scope, and negotiate proposals with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, owners, and trade partners throughout the pre-construction process.
- Present estimates, budgets, cost analysis, and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Lead commercial construction estimating and pre-construction projects from conceptual budgeting through final pricing.
- Manage subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, scope reviews, and proposal evaluations.
- Develop value engineering options and cost-saving recommendations for clients and project teams.
- Support project turnover, buyout activities, and coordination with operations teams.
- 5 to 10+ years of commercial construction estimating or pre-construction experience with a general contractor.
- Strong experience with commercial projects such as office, medical, retail, religious, interior renovations, interior build-outs, and ground-up construction.
- Experience preparing conceptual estimates, design development estimates, GMP pricing, and lump sum bids.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, ProEst, BuildingConnected, or similar platforms.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple estimates, priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations simultaneously.
- Excellent written communication, grammar, presentation, and client-facing skills.
- Strong relationship-building skills with architects, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and trade partners.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to work with a sense of urgency.
- Stable work history with demonstrated tenure in previous positions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience estimating a diverse mix of commercial interior build-outs, renovations, and ground-up construction projects.
- Long-term career interest in growing with a stable commercial construction team.
