We are seeking an experienced Powder Coating Specialist for a direct hire opportunity in Richardson, TX. This role is ideal for a skilled industrial powder coater who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment with a continuously moving conveyor line.
As a Powder Coating Specialist, you will play a critical role in the final finishing process, applying premium powder coatings to fabricated metal products and ensuring each part meets visual, durability, and customer specification standards before curing. Key Responsibilities
- Apply powder coatings to fabricated metal parts using electrostatic spray equipment on a continuously moving conveyor line.
- Inspect incoming materials and pre-treated surfaces to confirm parts are clean, dry, properly prepared, and ready for coating.
- Maintain required mil thickness ranges based on powder type, customer specifications, and work order requirements.
- Perform color changes and thorough clean-outs of spray booths, hoppers, and powder guns to prevent cross-contamination.
- Conduct routine equipment checks and minor preventative maintenance, including nozzles, grounding, and powder flow troubleshooting.
- Monitor finished coating quality and serve as a final quality checkpoint before parts enter the curing ovens.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $20.00 to $26.00 per hour.

- Operate electrostatic powder coating equipment in a conveyor line production environment.
- Apply consistent powder coverage while maintaining proper spray distance, angle, pacing, and mil thickness.
- Inspect parts before coating and verify finished quality before curing.
- Perform booth, gun, and hopper clean-outs during color or product changeovers.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional powder coating experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
- Proven hands-on experience working directly with a continuously moving conveyor belt system is required.
- Ability to read and follow basic manufacturing work orders, customer specifications, and coating requirements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor powder flow, grounding, or equipment issues.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 100 pounds as needed.
- Comfortable working in a shop environment with loud noise, airborne powder, temperature changes, and proximity to curing ovens.
- Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirator, safety glasses, and protective suit.
- Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong sense of craftsmanship, quality, and ownership over finished work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-volume fabricated metal products.
- Familiarity with multiple powder types, color change procedures, and contamination prevention practices.
- Experience performing basic preventative maintenance on powder coating equipment.
- Prior success in a quality-focused manufacturing environment where production pace and finish consistency are critical.
