Position: Payroll Supervisor
We’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Supervisor with proven experience in managing both union and non-union payroll. If you have a strong understanding of payroll compliance and a passion for process improvement, we want to hear from you! Certified Payroll experience is a plus.
About the Role
As the Payroll Supervisor, you’ll oversee the full spectrum of payroll operations—ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You'll lead a small team of payroll professionals, collaborate across departments, and support continuous improvements in systems and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily payroll operations, including multi-state and semi-monthly payroll processing
Ensure compliance with union and non-union payroll requirements
Audit payroll data and calculations for accuracy and adherence to tax regulations
Oversee tax filings, including quarterly/annual returns and W-2 forms
Coordinate paycheck distribution and maintain payroll data integrity
Manage and reconcile payroll-related accounts (e.g., Workers' Compensation, accruals, insurance premiums)
Maintain compliance with prevailing wage requirements and certified payroll reporting
Support general ledger functions—journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis
Provide payroll analytics and reporting to inform finance and leadership teams
Assist with system upgrades, configuration, and process improvements
Prepare for and support internal and external audits
Maintain up-to-date payroll policies and ensure adherence to internal controls
What You Bring
Strong experience in union and non-union payroll processing
In-depth knowledge of payroll tax laws and compliance
Experience working with payroll systems and integrating payroll with general ledger functions
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Certified Payroll experience highly preferred
Valid California Driver’s License
