Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Harristown, IL. This role is an excellent fit for a payroll, accounting, or administrative professional who enjoys accuracy-focused work, employee support, and working in a fast-paced corporate payroll environment.

The Payroll Specialist will support U.S. and Canadian payroll processing while helping employees and management resolve payroll-related questions. This position offers strong exposure to payroll operations, tax documentation, reconciliations, compliance, and cross-functional communication. Key Responsibilities

- Process U.S. and Canadian payroll accurately and within required deadlines.
- Troubleshoot payroll processing issues and provide timely support to employees and management.
- Complete payroll reconciliations, balancing activities, and payroll tax documentation, including Forms 941, W-2, T4, and related forms.
- Maintain secure and accurate payroll data in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Create and update payroll process documentation, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with leadership, local management teams, and cross-functional partners to support payroll accuracy and process improvements.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay: $19 to $20 per hour.
- Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Process and support U.S. and Canadian payroll functions.
- Complete payroll reconciliations and payroll tax documentation.
- Troubleshoot payroll issues while providing professional employee support.
- Maintain payroll records, process documentation, and compliance-focused procedures.

- Minimum of three years of general office or accounting experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles and mathematical calculations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent written, verbal, phone, and in-person communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and make timely, well-informed decisions.
- Ability to perform regular computer and telephone work, sit for extended periods, and complete general office tasks such as filing, standing, and bending.

Preferred Qualifications

- Payroll experience is preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with payroll or ERP systems is preferred.
- Experience supporting non-exempt payroll processing is a plus.
- Experience with U.S. and Canadian payroll processes is a plus.
