About the Role
A growing organization in the homecare and healthcare sector is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support its payroll operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and can manage a high volume of timekeeping data with accuracy. You will interact regularly with caregivers, schedulers, and leadership to ensure payroll is processed correctly and on time while maintaining compliance with labor laws and internal policies.

Responsibilities

Review and reconcile caregiver timekeeping records for accuracy using a homecare management system (such as WellSky)
Contact caregivers to collect missing timesheets, clarify shift details, or resolve discrepancies
Enter and verify timekeeping data to ensure accurate payroll processing and billing
Track and resolve repeated errors or inconsistencies in caregiver shift documentation
Coordinate with scheduling teams to match payroll records with caregiver assignments
Verify hours worked, pay rate variations, incentive/weekend rates, and mileage reimbursements
Maintain records for employee sick leave, PTO, and other leave balances
Process paperwork for new hires and enter employee information into payroll systems
Update payroll files for exemptions, transfers, resignations, and status changes
Maintain accurate logs and documentation for audit purposes
Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and payroll tracking
Perform other payroll-related duties as assigned

Requirements

3–5 years of experience in payroll, timekeeping, or administrative support
Healthcare or homecare experience strongly preferred
Strong phone communication skills and comfort contacting staff for clarification
Experience with payroll/timekeeping systems (Paycor or WellSky a plus)
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information
Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and general computer literacy

Work Environment

Onsite position, Monday through Friday
Standard office setting with regular interaction with staff and leadership
Requires sitting at a desk for extended periods
Occasional lifting of office supplies up to 25 lbs
Ability to walk short distances within the office to coordinate with other departments
