We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager for a direct hire opportunity with a growing restaurant and food services organization in Los Angeles, CA. This role is ideal for a bilingual Spanish/English payroll professional with strong ADP Workforce Now experience and a proven background managing high-volume, multi-state payroll in a restaurant or multi-location environment.
The Payroll Manager will serve as the primary payroll subject matter expert, partnering closely with Human Resources, Finance, and Operations to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for 500+ employees. Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bi-weekly payroll processing for 500+ employees across multiple locations and states.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and labor compliance requirements.
- Oversee payroll tax filings, reconciliations, quarter-end and year-end processing, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and wage assignments.
- Review, audit, and process meal and rest period premium payments and labor compliance-related payroll items.
- Generate, analyze, and distribute payroll reports for Human Resources, Finance, Operations, and senior leadership.
- Support internal and external payroll audits while identifying opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and controls.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000 to $90,000 per year.
- Manage full-cycle payroll processing for a high-volume, multi-location workforce.
- Lead multi-state payroll compliance, reporting, reconciliations, and audit support.
- Partner with Human Resources, Finance, and Operations on employee changes, reporting, and payroll issue resolution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for payroll-related questions.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive payroll experience.
- Required experience processing payroll for 500+ employees.
- Required restaurant industry payroll experience.
- Advanced ADP Workforce Now Payroll experience required.
- Bilingual Spanish/English required, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processing, payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and labor compliance requirements.
- Experience managing deductions, garnishments, reconciliations, audits, payroll reporting, and year-end payroll activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, confidentiality, and accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with Human Resources, Finance, and Operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting restaurant, hospitality, retail, or other multi-location operations.
- Experience improving payroll processes, reporting accuracy, audit readiness, and compliance workflows.
