The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including funding, reconciliation, and reporting. This role ensures full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations while supporting system enhancements and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on schedule, including data validation, report review, and adjustments
Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
Prepare and reconcile payroll funding and related financial reports
Manage payroll tax filings, payments, and reporting for internal and external stakeholders
Oversee audits related to payroll transactions, including employee pay changes, benefits, and cost center updates
Investigate and resolve complex payroll discrepancies and inquiries
Partner with HRIS (HRIM), Finance, and IT teams on system upgrades, implementations, and enhancements
Participate in system testing, document issues, and validate accuracy post-implementation
Maintain and update payroll procedures, documentation, and training materials
Support benefits administration, including:
Eligibility and enrollment processes
Open enrollment testing, validation, and audits
Reconciliation of benefit deductions between payroll and external systems (e.g., Centerpoint)

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Advanced experience with Oracle Fusion payroll (processing, reporting, troubleshooting)
Strong experience with ADP, including integrations and reconciliations
Extensive multi-state payroll processing experience, including tax compliance and regulatory updates
Ability to identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
Knowledge of employee benefits administration and payroll deductions
Understanding of federal and state labor laws, including IRS, DOL, and SSA regulations
Strong accounting and reconciliation skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Payroll Administrator (CPA)
Experience with workers’ compensation and leave administration
Knowledge of retirement plans (401(k), 401(a), 457(b))

Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED (required)
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 5+ years of payroll, accounting, or related experience
