A Public Sector organization is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll / Accounts Payable Technician to join their Finance Department. This position plays a critical role in supporting city operations by ensuring accurate employee payroll processing and timely, compliant vendor payments.

Key Responsibilities
Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll for city employees
Maintain payroll records, timecards, deductions, and leave balances
Prepare and reconcile payroll reports and journal entries
Ensure compliance with city, state, and federal payroll regulations
Audit timesheets and verify employee compensation data
Manage vendor invoices and purchase orders
Prepare and issue accounts payable payments
Maintain financial records and assist with month-end/year-end tasks
Provide excellent customer service to staff, vendors, and the public
Qualifications
2+ years of payroll and/or accounts payable experience (public sector preferred but not required)
Knowledge of payroll laws, accounting procedures, and financial systems
Experience with ERP or payroll software
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial data entry
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
High school diploma or equivalent required (AA or coursework in accounting/finance a plus)
