Payroll Accountant (Construction)
Location: 3116 S. Andrews Ave., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33316
Schedule: 100% Onsite
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Accountant to manage weekly payroll and ensure accurate job costing within our construction operations. This role supports payroll processing, labor burden allocation, workers’ compensation reporting, and month-end accounting tasks.
Responsibilities
Process weekly payroll and ensure accuracy of wages, overtime, bonuses, per diem, and deductions.
Allocate payroll and labor burden to jobs, cost codes, departments, and overhead accounts.
Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries, accruals, and reclasses.
Reconcile payroll to the general ledger, job cost reports, and liability accounts.
Maintain workers’ compensation records and support WC audits and true-ups.
Assist with month-end close, labor cost analysis, and audit requests.
Maintain accurate pay rates, job assignments, and labor classifications.
Work with HR and Operations to ensure payroll and job costing accuracy.
Requirements
3+ years of payroll accounting experience in a construction or job-costing environment.
Strong understanding of payroll posting, labor burden, job costing, and workers’ compensation.
Familiarity with GAAP as it relates to labor costs and WIP reporting.
Experience with construction accounting systems (Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Procore, HH2, or similar).
Strong attention to detail, reconciliation skills, and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience with prevailing wage, certified payroll, multi-state payroll, or WC audits.
Advanced Excel skills.
