Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist for a direct hire opportunity in Norco, CA with a construction organization supporting residential, commercial, and office projects. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys owning the full payroll process, working with field operations, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

The Payroll Specialist will manage weekly in-house payroll for a large construction workforce, including certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting. This is a strong opportunity for someone who is highly detail-oriented, confident with Sage 300 CRE, and looking for a stable role where payroll accuracy, compliance, and teamwork are valued.

Key Responsibilities

- Process full-cycle weekly payroll for 250+ hourly and salaried construction field employees.
- Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage requirements.
- Import field hours, review timekeeping data, and resolve timecard discrepancies before payroll processing.
- Ensure accurate labor cost code allocations across multiple construction jobs and project sites.
- Maintain payroll records, support compliance requirements, and assist with payroll-related reporting.
- Partner with field, accounting, and management teams to address payroll questions and ensure timely issue resolution.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay range: $32.00 to $35.00 per hour.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Location: Norco, CA.



Required Qualifications and Skills

- weekly in-house payroll processing for a multi-site construction workforce.
- Manage certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance.
- Import, audit, and correct field timekeeping data.
- Ensure accurate labor cost coding for construction projects.

- 3 to 5 years of payroll experience required.
- Construction payroll experience required, including support for multi-site operations.
- Proficiency with Sage 300 CRE, Timberline, is required.
- Strong knowledge of certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting.
- Experience processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and deadline management.
- Ability to communicate effectively with field teams, accounting staff, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience processing payroll for 250+ employees.
- Strong understanding of construction labor classifications, job costing, and payroll compliance.
- Prior experience working in residential, commercial, or office construction environments.
