Paralegal – General Liability & Casualty Defense
Position Overview We are hiring a Litigation Paralegal for our client’s General Liability & Casualty Defense team in Charleston, South Carolina. This is a full-time, on-site role supporting high-stakes defense litigation for clients in energy, construction, manufacturing, transportation, and insurance industries. The focus areas include general liability, casualty, and toxic tort matters.
The ideal candidate is a motivated, organized litigation paralegal with strong medical records experience and excellent drafting skills who thrives in a team-oriented, fast-paced defense environment.
Must-Have Qualifications (Screening Priorities)
Paralegal Certificate from an accredited school (Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred).
Minimum 2+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
Strong hands-on experience with medical records — collecting, organizing, analyzing, and summarizing records and preparing chronologies.
Experience managing cases from initiation through trial.
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Professional / Adobe DC.
Excellent legal drafting skills (pleadings, motions, discovery responses).
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Professional communication and interpersonal skills (client and attorney-facing).
Strongly Preferred
Experience in toxic tort, general liability, or casualty defense.
Prior exposure to document review and factual research.
Deposition transcript and discovery summarization experience.
Local candidates in the Charleston / South Carolina area (or strong willingness to relocate).
Ideal Candidate Profile
3–7 years of litigation paralegal experience.
Solid foundation in case management and medical records handling.
Detail-oriented, adaptable, and collaborative team player.
Comfortable working on-site in Charleston.
Proactive problem-solver who can take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision.
