Job Summary

We are seeking a Paint Service Representative for a contract/temporary opportunity in Chattanooga, TN. This hands-on technical role supports an OEM assembly and manufacturing environment, serving as a key liaison between paint operations, manufacturing teams, engineering groups, and quality personnel.

The Paint Service Representative will help manage industrial coatings performance, troubleshoot paint line issues, monitor quality data, and support consistent, high-quality finishes on commercial bus production. This is an excellent opportunity for a coatings professional who enjoys problem solving, working directly on the production floor, and building strong relationships with customer and technical teams.

This role offers a collaborative, team-oriented environment where your technical knowledge, communication skills, and attention to detail can directly impact product quality, process improvement, and daily manufacturing success.

Key Responsibilities

- Support daily paint operations by tracking paint consumption, monitoring inventory, assisting with ordering, and reviewing related documentation.
- Troubleshoot paint application, product, inventory, and process issues while providing practical recommendations to manufacturing and engineering teams.
- Collect, review, and communicate viscosity, temperature, appearance, film build, and Wave Scan data to support quality and process control.
- Assist with root cause analysis, material sample collection, testing requests, and reporting for paint defects or line performance concerns.
- Support monthly plant quality reporting, specification range recommendations, and quality range reviews such as appearance limits and color tolerances.
- Build effective working relationships with customer contacts, internal technical teams, chemists, manufacturing teams, and engineering personnel.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay range: $19 to $20 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support industrial coatings processes in an OEM manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Troubleshoot paint line issues, collect process data, and assist with root cause analysis.
- Monitor paint quality using tools and data such as viscosity, temperature, film build, appearance readings, and Wave Scan results.
- Assist with inventory tracking, paint ordering, customer reporting, and technical communication.

- 1-5 years of paint application experience in an automotive OEM coatings environment.
- Working knowledge of paint technologies, industrial coatings, and paint process requirements.
- Familiarity with chemical handling, Process Safety Management principles, and standard lab or research practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to analyze process data, summarize results, and notify appropriate parties when results fall outside expectations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to support manufacturing, engineering, quality, technical, and customer-facing teams.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage daily priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting commercial vehicle, bus, automotive, or heavy equipment manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with color tolerances, appearance standards, viscosity ranges, and paint quality reporting.
- Experience working directly with chemists, technical service teams, or customer quality teams on test requests and process improvement projects.
- Ability to build relationships at multiple levels within a manufacturing site while delivering responsive technical support.
