AppleOne Temecula in Partnership with Eastern Municipal Water District (Perris) is excited to announce their 2026 Internship Program! We are currently accepting potential Candidates who meet the following:
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Undergraduate Level college students attending an accredited college/trade school
Desired course work/degree: Political science, public policy, public administration, economics, legal studies, or related fields of study.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university carrying a minimum of 12 Semester or 8 Quarter units (Copy of most recent transcript to be submitted at time of Interview/Registration) Maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Candidates REQUIRED Commitments: Availability (onsite) of a maximum of 20 hours per week (Intern works hours may vary and be mutually agreeable between the intern and supervisor) * Internship START DATE: Monday - June 08, 2026 *Able to COMMIT to the DURATION of the Internship through Friday - October 30, 2026.
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION: Review, track, analyze, and interpret proposed federal and state legislation affecting EMWD operations; coordinate staff reviews and responses to proposed legislation; drafts legislative summaries, position papers, correspondence, and assist with preparing testimony. Coordinate and interact with EMWD staff, staff members of other agencies, and elected officials regarding legislation; contribute to the overall effectiveness of EMWD’s inter-governmental relations; represent the EMWD’s interest in multiple forums. Participate in a variety of professional and industry specific committees involved in legislative and intergovernmental affairs; attend meetings to stay abreast of all current, proposed, and anticipated legislation which could affect EMWD’s programs and financial operations. Observe and comply with all EMWD and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols. Perform related duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Skills and knowledge you would like the intern to possess such as desired class level (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior), excellent writing and communication skills, knowledge of computer applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, etc.? Desired skills: Knowledge of state and federal legislative processes, its steps, and influence points are desired, but not required. Provide a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and EMWD staff. The structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Ability to research, analyze, interpret, explain, and summarize environmental, legislative, and inter-governmental issues. Under the supervision of the department manager, the intern should be able to effectively represent the department and EMWD in meetings with governmental agencies; community groups; various business, professional, and regulatory organizations. Independently organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments. Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines. Effectively use computer systems, such as MS Word and Excel, software applications relevant to work performed, and modern business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks. APPLY TODAY!
