Job Opening: Office Clerk-Great Opportunity
Position Summary
The Public Works Department for local municipality is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable **Office Clerk** to provide administrative and clerical support to department staff. This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient day-to-day operations and excellent service to the public. Ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills as they will also be working with the public.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform general clerical duties including filing, data entry, scanning, and record maintenance
* Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and assist residents and contractors at the public counter
* Process work orders, permits, invoices, and purchase requests
* Maintain department records, databases, and logs with accuracy and confidentiality
* Prepare correspondence, reports, and meeting materials
* Coordinate schedules and assist with departmental communications
* Support compliance with public records and retention requirements
Minimum Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent
* One (1) year of clerical or administrative experience (public sector experience preferred)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic office systems
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent customer service and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a Public Works or municipal government environment
* Knowledge of work order systems or permit tracking software
* Bilingual Spanish skills helpful.
Working Conditions
* Primarily office-based with frequent interaction with the public
* Occasional lifting of files or office supplies
