Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced New Accounts Banker for a direct hire opportunity in San Mateo, CA. This role is ideal for a banking professional with recent branch, retail, or community banking experience who enjoys opening accounts, building client relationships, and identifying solutions that support customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Open and maintain consumer and business deposit accounts, including checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, and Trust/Estate accounts.
- Process new account transactions with accurate documentation, proper account titling, and clean digital recordkeeping.
- Cross-sell banking products and services based on client needs, referral opportunities, and branch goals.
- Assist clients with account maintenance, inquiries, service requests, and relationship-based banking solutions.
- Perform teller transactions as needed while maintaining strong cash balancing accuracy.
- Follow all banking compliance requirements, including BSA/AML, KYC/CIP, OFAC, information security, and internal bank policies.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Open consumer and business deposit accounts while ensuring accurate documentation, proper titling, and compliance.
- Support branch sales goals through cross-selling, referrals, client profiling, and product recommendations.
- Process teller transactions, account maintenance requests, and client service inquiries.
- Maintain accurate client records in core banking systems and support clean digital documentation.
- 3 to 5 years of recent U.S. retail, community, or branch banking experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience opening consumer accounts is required.
- Business account opening experience is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of BSA/AML, KYC/CIP, OFAC, information security, and proper account documentation requirements.
- Experience with checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, Trust/Estate accounts, account titling, wire transfers, and cash balancing.
- Strong sales, referral, cross-selling, or KPI-based branch performance experience.
- Experience using core banking systems and maintaining accurate digital account records.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to handle confidential information.
- Must be local to the branch community and able to commute reliably within the San Mateo area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience opening and supporting business accounts in a community banking or branch banking environment.
- Senior-level experience with complex business accounts, treasury services, large transaction approvals, supervisor overrides, or escalated client issues.
- Exposure to treasury services such as RDC/check scanner, armored services, courier services, or related business banking support.
- Strong track record of new account production, referral activity, sales goals, or measurable branch performance.
