Seeking a Network Technician with demonstrated technical proficiency in enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, and voice network environments. Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of college or technical school coursework in information systems, networking, or a closely related field (60 semester or 90 quarter units), or equivalent hands-on technical experience substituted on a year-for-year basis, and at least two years of direct experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting LAN and WAN infrastructure. Required experience includes structured cabling installation, physical-layer troubleshooting, router and switch configuration, and hands-on work with Hewlett Packard network switches. Applicants must have strong working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VLAN design and implementation, router protocols, and LAN switch and router management using telnet, web-based interfaces, and command-line tools. Technical requirements include basic proficiency with Cisco IOS and Nexus OS command-line interfaces; experience supporting fiber-optic and copper network media; and familiarity with network monitoring, testing, and documentation practices. Candidates should also demonstrate knowledge of enterprise network security components such as next-generation firewalls, Firepower services, proxy servers, VPN solutions, and mail spam filtering systems.
Additional technical qualifications include experience with Microsoft operating systems up to and including Windows Server 2012 and Windows 7; Microsoft Exchange 2013; and the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as exposure to virtualized application and desktop delivery technologies such as Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, and Netscalers. Candidates must be capable of performing analog, digital, and protocol testing of data communication channels; maintaining accurate network inventories and configuration records; providing first-level support for Cisco VoIP and analog telephony systems; and installing network cabling as required. Strong technical documentation skills, the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical users, effective prioritization of multiple service requests, adherence to safety and health standards, and regular, reliable attendance are essential requirements of this position.
