Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled Network Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN, wireless, and network communication systems. This role works closely with users and IT teams to ensure reliable network performance and excellent customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of college or technical training in Information Systems, Networking, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on technical experience, year-for-year)
Minimum of two years of experience installing and repairing LAN/WAN equipment (routers, switches, cabling, wiring, and physical layer troubleshooting)
Experience with Hewlett Packard network switches
Strong hands-on experience with PC hardware, software, and network maintenance
Preferred Experience
Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows Server 2012, Windows 7)
Microsoft Exchange 2013 and Microsoft Office Suite
Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, and NetScalers
Next Generation Firewalls, Firepower Services, VPNs, proxy servers, and mail spam servers
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network switching, routing, and wireless equipment
Monitor and support WAN connections
Perform testing and diagnostics of data communication channels
Maintain accurate network documentation and inventory databases
Provide first-level support for Cisco VoIP and analog phone systems
Install network cabling as needed
Work directly with users to identify issues, define requirements, and provide technical guidance
Recommend network improvements and stay current with emerging technologies
Deliver excellent customer service and maintain effective working relationships
Perform additional related duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
LAN/WAN technologies, TCP/IP, VLANs, fiber optics, and networking protocols
Router and switch configuration via command line and web interfaces
Basic Cisco IOS and Nexus OS commands
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and record-keeping skills
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
Additional Requirements
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to safety, reliability, and regular attendance
