Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Front Office Clerk to join our healthcare team. This role is the first point of contact for patients and visitors, playing a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient front office environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients and visitors warmly and professionally
Answer and direct phone calls using a multi-line phone system
Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
Verify patient insurance and collect co-pays or other payments
Maintain and update patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
Handle patient check-in and check-out procedures
Coordinate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow
Process incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and emails
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk and waiting area
Adhere to HIPAA and other confidentiality regulations
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, or similar)
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure
