This Medical A/R or Medical Collections Specialist Position Features:

• Pay: $18–$20/hr

About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Collections Specialist to support a fast-paced healthcare billing and accounting environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, medical collections experience, and the ability to work efficiently across multiple systems. This is a long-term temporary position offering stable hours and a supportive professional setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts receivable, including daily follow-up on unpaid insurance claims and patient balances.
• Review EOBs, investigate denials, and submit appeals promptly.
• Communicate professionally with patients to discuss outstanding balances and arrange payment plans.
• Verify insurance coverage and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Work across two accounting systems: Centriq (legacy system) and Meditech
• Coordinate with internal departments to collect necessary clinical and billing documentation.
• Scan, upload, organize, and maintain medical and billing records with accuracy.
• Prepare aging summaries, claim status reports, and other AR-related updates for management.
Required Skills & Experience
• Medical collections or healthcare billing experience (3–5 years preferred).
• Proficiency in:
* Microsoft Excel (sorting/filtering, basic formulas, spreadsheets)
* Microsoft Word (documents, letters, formatting)
* Adobe (PDF management, editing, merging)
• Preferably experienced with Meditech (highly valued).
• Ability to learn and navigate Centriq and other billing/EMR platforms.
• Strong understanding of EOBs, insurance denials, appeals, and medical billing workflows.
• Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
