Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist
Location: Onsite –Clifton Park, NY 12065
Compensation: $20.00–$27.00 per hour, Full-Time

Position Overview
Seeking a full-time Medical Billing Specialist to join its dedicated team.
The Medical Billing Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that all medical services are accurately documented and billed for timely reimbursement. This position requires strong knowledge of medical coding, billing procedures, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
(please be sure you have the following experience reflected on your resume to be considered)

• Experience with Workers’ Compensation and No-Fault billing
• Proven experience as a medical billing clerk or similar healthcare administrative role.
• Proficiency in ICD and CPT coding systems and billing software.
• Strong understanding of healthcare billing processes, insurance policies, and reimbursement procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or certification in medical billing


Key Responsibilities
• Assign accurate ICD and CPT codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services.
• Prepare and submit electronic or paper claims to insurance companies and government agencies.
• Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits; obtain pre-authorizations and referrals as needed.
• Generate and send patient invoices; follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Post payments from insurance companies and patients into the billing system.
• Reconcile payments with billed amounts and identify discrepancies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing, insurance claims, and payment options.
• Provide explanations of benefits (EOBs) and assist patients in understanding financial responsibilities.
• Maintain accurate billing and payment records.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all data protection regulations.
• Reconcile billing records with accounts receivable and financial reports.
• Prepare reports on billing activities, claim statuses, and revenue performance.
• Stay current on changes in billing regulations, coding guidelines, and insurance policies.
• Participate in training sessions and workshops to maintain proficiency.
