Medical Billing Specialist
Location: Onsite 12205
Schedule: Full Time
Compensation: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour depending on experience

We are seeking a full-time Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. This role is essential to ensuring accurate documentation, billing, and reimbursement for the services we provide.

Position Summary
The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for processing medical claims, managing patient billing, and ensuring compliance with all billing regulations. This role requires strong knowledge of medical coding, insurance policies, and healthcare billing procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or medical billing certification preferred
• Experience with Workers’ Compensation and No-Fault billing preferred
• Proven experience as a medical billing clerk or similar role
• Proficiency with ICD and CPT coding systems and billing software
• Strong understanding of healthcare billing processes, insurance policies, and reimbursement procedures
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology
• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards

Key Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD and CPT codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services
• Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies and government agencies
• Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits
• Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals as required
• Generate and send patient invoices; follow up on unpaid claims and resolve discrepancies
• Post and reconcile payments from insurance companies and patients
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing, insurance claims, and financial responsibilities
• Provide explanations of benefits and assist patients in understanding charges
• Maintain accurate billing and payment records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations
• Reconcile billing records with accounts receivable and financial reports
• Prepare reports on billing activity, claim status, and revenue performance
• Stay current with changes in billing regulations, coding guidelines, and insurance policies
• Participate in training sessions and workshops to maintain proficiency
