About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Medical Biller – Collections Specialist with a strong background in working with government-funded healthcare programs. This is not a traditional commercial insurance billing role—our primary funders are state and federal entities such as Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, and the VA.
This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in navigating the complexities of billing and collections within government healthcare programs.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to government-funded healthcare programs (Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, VA).
Ensure proper coding using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS standards.
Maintain strict compliance with federal and state billing regulations (HIPAA, CMS guidelines, TRICARE policies).
Monitor industry changes in government healthcare billing requirements.
Track outstanding payments, reconcile accounts, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
Resolve payment discrepancies by working directly with government payers.
Coordinate secondary and tertiary billing when applicable.
Maintain detailed billing records for audits and reviews.
Prepare reports for leadership and stakeholders.
Act as a liaison between providers, patients, and government agencies.
Qualifications
Experience in medical billing/collections with government or state-funded programs (required).
Familiarity with CareLogic software (preferred).
Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding standards.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
