Medical Billing & Eligibility Specialist
$21/hr | Bakersfield, CA | Monday–Friday 8-5
Attention medical billers! We are hiring an experienced Medical Billing & Eligibility Specialist to support patient access, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and charge posting in a busy healthcare setting.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of medical billing and accounts receivable experience in a healthcare setting
High school diploma or GED
Experience with insurance verification, prior authorizations, and payer guideline
Key Responsibilities
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for scheduled and same-day patients
Obtain and process prior authorizations for procedures when required
Resolve registration and authorization issues before patient visits
Assist patients with switching to in-network providers (PCP transfers)
Ensure all required billing information is completed before patient checkout
Post charges for completed encounters and reconcile daily appointments
Correct billing errors, claims issues, and posting discrepancies
Update patient accounts with accurate billing information
Collaborate with providers, office managers, billing teams, and health plans
Assist patients with identifying appropriate financial assistance programs
Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect confidential patient information
Use Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Practice Management Systems (NextGen, PMS, QSI)
