Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Medical Assistant Ortho Fitter for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Shreveport, LA. This role is ideal for a Medical Assistant or direct patient care professional who wants to move beyond a traditional medical office setting and build a specialized career path in orthotics and durable medical equipment.

As a Medical Assistant Ortho Fitter, you will work directly with patients who need orthopedic braces, supports, and orthotic devices. You will help ensure proper fit, comfort, patient education, and follow-up support while learning from an experienced healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

- Work directly with patients who require orthopedic braces, supports, and other orthotic devices.
- Assist with proper fitting, adjustment, and basic modification of orthotic equipment.
- Educate patients on correct device use, care, maintenance, and comfort.
- Use basic hand tools as needed to support fittings and device adjustments.
- Maintain accurate patient information, documentation, and service records.
- Participate in a required on-call hospital rotation approximately every 4 to 5 weeks after training is completed.

Compensation and Benefits

- Temp-to-hire opportunity.
- Starting pay: $15.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

- Required on-call hospital rotation approximately every 4 to 5 weeks, including 24/7 availability during the assigned rotation.



Required Qualifications and Skills

- Provide direct patient care support for patients receiving orthopedic braces, supports, and orthotic devices.
- Assist with orthotic fitting, adjustments, patient education, and follow-up support.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and service records.
- Support hospital on-call needs after training is completed.

- 1 to 2 years of medical assistant, clinical support, or direct patient care experience preferred for this level of role.
- Comfortable working directly with patients in a hands-on healthcare setting.
- Ability to learn orthotic fitting techniques, durable medical equipment processes, and basic device adjustments.
- Basic hand tool skills or willingness to learn.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain device use, care, and comfort instructions clearly.
- Dependable, compassionate, detail-oriented, and professional.
- Ability to participate in a rotating on-call hospital schedule approximately every 4 to 5 weeks after training.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant, patient care technician, orthopedic technician, rehab aide, or similar direct patient care role.
- Experience with orthopedic braces, durable medical equipment, orthotics, or mobility support devices.
- Familiarity with patient documentation, healthcare records, or clinical office workflows.
