Medical Office Assistant / Medical Assistant (MA) Location: Shreveport, LA 71115 Pay: Competitive hourly rate (DOE) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Employment Type: Full-Time Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and organized Medical Office Assistant / Medical Assistant (MA) to join our healthcare team in Shreveport, LA. This role supports both front and back office operations, ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate administrative processing. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a medical office setting, strong knowledge of medical terminology, and excellent communication skills. Key Responsibilities: Greet and check in patients, verify insurance and collect co-pays Schedule appointments, follow-ups, and referrals Maintain and update patient records in the EMR system Assist with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and supporting providers during exams Perform basic lab procedures and handle specimen collection (if certified) Communicate with insurance companies for verification and authorization Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages to clinical staff Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic protocols Support billing and coding processes as needed Maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk and clinical areas Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years experience in a medical office or clinical setting Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification procedures Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required High school diploma or equivalent required Benefits: Competitive hourly pay (DOE) Weekday schedule with no weekends Health, dental, and vision insurance options Paid time off and retirement plan Supportive team environment with opportunities for growth
