Job Summary Required Qualifications and Skills
We are seeking a Materials Handler in East Syracuse, NY. This role supports pharmaceutical drug substance handling within a regulated GMP warehouse environment for the medical devices and supplies industry. The Materials Handler will play an important role in receiving, storing, transferring, freezing, thawing, and shipping GMP materials while following strict safety, quality, and documentation requirements.
Responsibilities
- Safely handle, transfer, freeze, thaw, store, and ship pharmaceutical drug substance and related GMP materials.
- Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, delivery vehicles, cold rooms, and freezers.
- Support receiving, inventory control, SAP transactions, material storage, and internal transfers of raw materials.
- Follow detailed SOPs, MBRs, cGMP requirements, safety procedures, and documentation standards.
- Recognize and report safety, maintenance, and quality events to area management in a timely manner.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and compliant work areas to support GMP and safety expectations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $23.75 per hour.
- Schedule: 1st shift 8:00AM-5:00PM, Monday through Friday.
- Weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required.
- Location: East Syracuse, NY.
- Perform GMP material handling, receiving, storage, transfer, freezing, thawing, and shipping activities.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, delivery vehicles, cold rooms, and freezer areas safely and accurately.
- Complete inventory control activities and material transactions, including SAP-related processes.
- Follow SOPs, MBRs, cGMP documentation, gowning, PPE, safety, and quality requirements.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in material handling, warehouse operations, manufacturing, production, or equipment operations.
- Minimum high school diploma required.
- Ability to work in a regulated GMP warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with common computer tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based applications.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed written instructions with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, personal accountability, and drive.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-based culture.
- Ability to work around hazardous materials, including caustics, acids, and extreme cold temperatures.
- Ability to perform frequent bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
- Ability to perform repetitive use of arms, hands, and wrists, including grasping.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on an infrequent, unassisted basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree preferred.
- Pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or equivalent regulated GMP environment experience preferred.
- Experience with SAP inventory control systems preferred.
- Prior forklift, pallet jack, cold room, freezer, or GMP warehouse experience preferred.
