A professional law firm in downtown San Diego is looking for a skilled Mass Tort Paralegal to join their team. In this role, you’ll support attorneys handling large-scale civil cases involving multiple plaintiffs affected by the same product, action, or event.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management
Organize and maintain large client databases (often hundreds or thousands of plaintiffs)
Track deadlines, filings, and court requirements
Assist with case intake and initial screening
Client Communication
Conduct client interviews and gather relevant background information
Provide updates and maintain ongoing communication with clients
Collect medical, employment, and other supporting records
Document Handling
Draft legal documents such as complaints, discovery requests, and authorizations
Review and summarize medical records and evidence
Prepare and organize exhibits and case files for litigation
Discovery & Litigation Support
Support attorneys during discovery, including document production and interrogatories
Prepare materials for depositions and trial
Coordinate with experts, vendors, and co-counsel
Data & Compliance
Utilize case management systems and spreadsheets to track information
Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and multidistrict litigation (MDL) requirements
Key Skills:
Strong organizational skills, especially when managing high-volume caseloads
High attention to detail, particularly with legal and medical documentation
Excellent communication skills for client interaction
Proficiency with case management tools, Excel, and document review platforms
Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
Education & Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (Paralegal Studies preferred)
Paralegal certificate is a plus
Prior experience in personal injury or litigation is highly preferred
