 The Estimator is responsible for supporting the project bidding process by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for custom fabrication projects in the industrial and commercial sectors. Operating under the direction of the Operations Manager within the manufacturing division, this role bridges the gap between initial project documentation and finalized cost analysis, ensuring all estimates align with customer expectations and company profitability goals.

Responsibilities: - Review project documentation and discuss scope requirements with the sales team to fully understand project parameters. - Utilize estimating software such as QuickPen, Autobid Mechanical, and Tekla Powerfab to generate detailed, line-item cost estimates. - Solicit, analyze, and negotiate bids from vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive material pricing and reliable capacity. - Prepare complete technical and financial project documentation for internal handoffs and client presentations. - Participate in project kickoff and turnover meetings to ensure seamless transitions to production teams. - Assist in the preparation and validation of project drawings and technical specifications. - Perform periodic reviews of actual manufacturing costs against initial estimated costs to identify variances. - Adjust parameters and material data within the estimating software to continuously improve baseline accuracy. - Enter incoming bid requests into the tracking system and communicate bid participation status directly to customers. - Assist Project Managers in performing material take-offs and forecasting total costs at project completion. Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED required; a degree or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is highly preferred. - 1 to 3+ years of dedicated estimating experience within a custom metal fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial fabrication environment. - Proven proficiency operating specialized mechanical and structural estimating platforms (e.g., QuickPen, Autobid Mechanical, Tekla Powerfab). - Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, industrial schematics, and bid specifications. - Strong physical capability to operate standard office equipment (computers, scanners, copiers) and lift/carry up to 50 lbs as required by manufacturing facility environments.
