Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager - EHS for a direct hire opportunity in Pacoima, CA within the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for keeping a highly regulated production facility safe, compliant, efficient, secure, and fully prepared to support daily manufacturing operations.

The Maintenance Manager - EHS will oversee facility maintenance, production equipment support, building systems, preventive maintenance, environmental health and safety programs, hazardous waste compliance, contractor coordination, emergency response, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a visible role that partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, Maintenance, and outside service providers.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead daily maintenance activities for facility systems, production support equipment, non-production machinery, utilities, grounds, security, and building repairs.
- Manage preventive maintenance programs using CMMS systems, including documentation, work orders, inspections, logs, and maintenance records.
- Oversee troubleshooting, repair, rebuilding, and installation support for CNC machines, thread rollers, grinders, fillet rollers, saws, ovens, wash lines, deburring equipment, lab equipment, and related manufacturing assets.
- Lead EHS compliance activities, including safety committee meetings, safety training, inspections, incident response, hazardous waste management, chemical data management, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate contractors, vendors, purchase orders, equipment installations, facility projects, utility connections, and vendor work completion reviews.
- Support regulatory compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, DTSC, CERS, CUPA, fire safety, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and local environmental requirements.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage maintenance operations, facility systems, preventive maintenance programs, equipment repairs, and facility improvement projects.
- Lead EHS compliance programs, inspections, safety training, incident investigations, hazardous waste activities, and corrective action plans.
- Coordinate production equipment installations, utility connections, contractor work, emergency repairs, and facility support needs.
- Maintain accurate CMMS records, OSHA logs, safety documentation, inspection reports, permits, maintenance records, and regulatory files.

- Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience leading maintenance activities, maintenance staff, vendors, contractors, and repair projects in a production setting.
- Working knowledge of CNC equipment, mechanical systems, electrical troubleshooting, plumbing, lighting, compressed air systems, HVAC, building repairs, and facility infrastructure.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs, maintenance documentation, work orders, service contractors, purchase orders, and vendor coordination.
- Knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, DTSC, CERS, CUPA, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, workplace safety, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Ability to support safety programs such as Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, Emergency Action Plans, hazardous waste management, machine guarding, ergonomics, and incident response.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, repair drawings, equipment manuals, safety requirements, service agreements, and contractor proposals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS, maintenance, work-order, or EHS management systems. Limble experience is helpful.
- High School Diploma required.
- OSHA Forklift Certification required.
- Strong leadership, communication, time management, prioritization, organization, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, respond to facility emergencies, support after-hours needs when required, and operate effectively in both office and machine shop environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, bend, work from elevated lifts, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in environments with noise, moving equipment, machine parts, fumes, dust, oils, etchants, and cutting fluids.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, metal fabrication, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within an AS9100 or ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environment.
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification.
- Facilities Management Professional, Certified Facility Manager, Certified Safety Professional, Occupational Health and Safety Technician, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or similar credential.
- Experience with ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 programs.
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, assembly, inspection, chemical processing, welding, painting, or metal finishing.
- Experience with hazardous-material business plans, air-quality permits, stormwater programs, hazardous-waste reporting, and environmental permits.
- Experience managing capital projects, construction, facility expansions, or production equipment installations.
- Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, or continuous improvement experience.
- Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.
