Job Summary
A direct hire opportunity is available for a Senior Machine Operator, also referred to as a Coating Line Operator, in West Columbia, SC. This role is ideal for an experienced manufacturing professional with strong coating line experience who is ready to take ownership of machine performance, quality output, and team workflow.
The Machine Operator will operate, monitor, and maintain coating line equipment to support the production of high-quality materials. This position offers a stable production environment, hands-on leadership, teamwork, and the opportunity to serve as a lead resource on the floor. Successful candidates will bring dependability, strong attention to detail, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to help drive continuous improvement across production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain coating line equipment according to SOPs, work instructions, and product specifications.
- Load raw materials and unload finished goods according to the bill of materials and production requirements.
- Monitor process variables and make adjustments to maintain product quality, machine performance, and production efficiency.
- Perform in-line quality checks using designated measuring devices and report equipment or measuring device issues.
- Maintain accurate production records, equipment logs, and daily output documentation.
- Support preventive maintenance, train coating line helpers, and assist as a machine lead when needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Operate coating line machinery to meet daily production schedules and quality standards.
- Monitor process settings, troubleshoot quality concerns, and reduce scrap through proper adjustments.
- Perform in-line quality checks and maintain accurate production and equipment records.
- Support operator-led preventive maintenance and train helpers to maintain efficient workflow.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must have coating experience.
- 5 to 10 years of manufacturing experience as a machine operator or helper.
- 2 to 4 years of machine operator experience required.
- Ability to follow SOPs, work instructions, product specifications, and safety procedures.
- Basic reading and math comprehension required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl during 12-hour shifts.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, teamwork, and commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the PSA, pressure-sensitive adhesive, or tape industry.
- Prior experience acting as a machine lead or training production helpers.
- Experience supporting preventive maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment.
