Join Our Team as a Loan Counselor I (Mortgage Collections)
Are you skilled in mortgage servicing and passionate about helping customers find solutions? We’re looking for a detail-oriented professional to manage delinquent mortgage accounts, negotiate payment arrangements, and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Schedule: 9 AM–6 PM, 10 AM–7 PM, 11 AM–8 PM, or 12 PM–9 PM; rotating Saturdays (8 AM–3 PM)
About the Role
The Loan Counselor I manages delinquent mortgage accounts, works with borrowers to resolve past-due payments, and ensures compliance with all regulations. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach.
Responsibilities
• Contact borrowers via phone, email, and mail to resolve delinquent accounts
• Negotiate payment arrangements and offer loss mitigation options per guidelines
• Maintain accurate records of borrower interactions and account status
• Monitor assigned portfolio to meet performance goals and minimize losses
• Collaborate with internal teams for seamless servicing
• Ensure compliance with FDCPA, TCPA, RESPA, CFPB, and investor regulations
• Identify and escalate high-risk accounts or potential fraud
• Participate in ongoing training and development
• Work in a fast-paced, structured environment focused on quality and productivity
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years in mortgage servicing, collections, or call center environment
• Knowledge of mortgage products, servicing systems, and regulations
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and servicing platforms
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and adapt to change
Preferred:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field
• Bilingual (Spanish/English)
• Experience with FHA, VA, and Conventional Loan Servicing
• Familiarity with skip tracing tools and regulatory requirements
