Litigation Legal Assistant
Salary: $85,000 – $90,000 per year
Schedule: Hybrid (1 remote day per week – Tuesday or Thursday)
Location: Washington, D.C. (On-site required 4 days/week)

Position Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a skilled Litigation Legal Assistant to support a team of partners in its Washington, D.C. office. This position requires a highly organized and experienced professional to assist attorneys in employment-related defense litigation before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage administrative tasks including answering calls, scheduling, and email correspondence
Coordinate communication with clients, court personnel, and external vendors
Monitor and manage deadlines, calendar appointments, and court filings
Support attorneys through all phases of the litigation process, including preparing for hearings, arbitrations, and trials
Handle document management tasks such as bates labeling, redactions, and e-filing with federal and state courts
Prepare and submit monthly expense reports and assist with time entry and billing
Proofread and format legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards
Maintain and organize electronic case files
Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations
Collaborate with billing specialists to ensure timely and accurate client invoicing
Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience, specifically in defense-side work
Strong understanding of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
Typing speed of 65+ WPM
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience with electronic time entry, document management systems, and court e-filing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, team-oriented attitude
