A direct hire opportunity is available for a Liability Claims Specialist in the Kansas City metro area. This role is ideal for a commercial claims professional who wants to move into an internal corporate risk and insurance function with a national construction organization.
In this position, you will support commercial general liability and commercial auto liability claims from initial report through resolution. You will work closely with branch operations, third-party administrators, defense counsel, legal, finance, fleet, human resources, and other internal partners to keep claims moving, evaluate recommendations, and drive timely, cost-effective outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee assigned commercial general liability and commercial auto claims from initial reporting through closure.
- Partner with branch teams, third-party administrators, attorneys, and internal stakeholders to gather facts, guide investigations, and develop resolution strategies.
- Review claim progress, reserve recommendations, settlement strategies, litigation updates, and vendor performance.
- Coordinate litigation management with defense counsel and claims administrators while monitoring costs, timelines, and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate electronic claim files, documentation, claim notes, and activity records in the claims system.
- Provide virtual and in-person training to branch and field teams to improve incident reporting, documentation, and claims practices.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $65,000 to $85,000 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Location: Kansas City metro area, with Lenexa, KS noted as the work location.
- Manage commercial general liability and commercial auto liability claims from intake through resolution.
- Coordinate claim strategy, litigation activity, reserve reviews, and settlement recommendations with outside partners.
- Serve as a claims liaison between branch operations, internal business teams, third-party administrators, and defense attorneys.
- Support claims process improvement, incident reporting practices, vendor accountability, and internal training.
- At least five years of insurance experience, including hands-on commercial general liability claims experience.
- Multi-line commercial claims experience, with commercial auto liability experience strongly relevant.
- Experience handling bodily injury claims and third-party property damage claims.
- Working knowledge of the civil litigation process and experience communicating with defense attorneys.
- Ability to evaluate claim information, identify issues, ask effective questions, and follow through on next steps.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear, professional communication skills and the confidence to constructively challenge recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic claims systems.
- Service-focused approach with the ability to build credibility with internal teams and external claims partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction-related claims experience.
- Familiarity with Origami Risk.
- Experience working for an insurance carrier, third-party administrator, or commercial claims consulting team.
- Local candidates in the Kansas City metro area.
