We are seeking a motivated Investigator to support asbestos and silicosis litigation, workers’ compensation, and general civil matters. In this role, the Investigator conducts in-depth interviews with potential clients and witnesses, including coworkers, to assess case viability and gather critical factual information. Responsibilities include preparing detailed memoranda from interviews; reviewing and summarizing a wide range of documents such as employment, Social Security, military, business, property, product, sales, and deposition records; performing internet research on defendants and job sites; locating and contacting potential witnesses; and preparing declarations and correspondence for attorney review. The Investigator will code defendant identification into databases, direct paralegals to update work histories, maintain accurate time entries, and occasionally travel for document productions or meetings, all while handling confidential information ethically and professionally.
The ideal candidate is inquisitive, confident, and comfortable conducting cold calls and interviews—often around complex and emotional issues. Strong writing and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to clearly articulate interview findings and build rapport with clients, witnesses, and colleagues. This position requires the ability to learn complex legal concepts related to liability for contractors, premises, and manufacturers; manage multiple tasks simultaneously; adapt quickly to change; and use databases, documents, email, telephone, and internet tools with professionalism and proper etiquette. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, along with 3–5 years of related experience in research, investigations, interviewing, or construction trades. Candidates should type at least 35 wpm, possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and be able to track and manage numerous tasks efficiently.
