About the Role
A small, two-partner law office is seeking a highly organized Legal Assistant/Paralegal with strong defense litigation experience. This hybrid role requires someone comfortable wearing multiple hats—supporting attorneys with legal tasks while assisting with general office operations. Candidates must live within reasonable commuting distance and be available onsite at least two days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Support
Assist attorneys in all phases of defense litigation, including discovery, hearings, arbitrations, and trials
Perform Bates numbering, redacting, and electronic filing with state and federal courts
Format, proofread, and finalize legal documents with high accuracy
Maintain and organize both physical and electronic case files
Coordinate and prepare for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and client meetings
Oversee conflict checks and new matter intake
Track deadlines, manage calendars, and ensure timely follow-ups
Process attorney time entries and monthly expense reports
Office & Administrative Support
Handle general office tasks such as mail, supply ordering, and light facilities coordination
Communicate with building tenants, clients, court clerks, and vendors as needed
Answer phones, manage correspondence, and support daily office operations
Assist partners with various administrative needs in a small, collaborative office environment
Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of defense litigation experience (Florida & Federal Rules of Civil Procedure required)
Typing speed of at least 65 WPM
High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
Strong command of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Proficiency with time entry, e-filing systems, and document management tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple deadlines
Positive, professional, and flexible attitude
Ability to work onsite at least 2 days per week
Compensation
Salary: $62,000–$70,000 annually (based on experience)
