A well-established legal services practice in Albany, NY is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to provide administrative and legal support to attorneys across several practice areas, including personal injury, insurance defense, municipal law, estate planning, and employment law.

This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary who enjoys being part of a collaborative, professional law office where teamwork, reliability, and a no-task-too-small mindset are highly valued. The role will support two attorneys and work closely with partners, associates, legal assistants, a paralegal, and firm administration in a stable and client-focused environment.

The successful candidate will bring strong organizational skills, polished communication, accurate document preparation abilities, and a willingness to assist wherever needed to help the office run smoothly.

Responsibilities:

- Format, draft, proofread, and finalize legal correspondence, pleadings, briefs, discovery materials, and related legal documents.
- Maintain calendars for multiple attorneys, including court dates, depositions, hearings, deadlines, meetings, and case-related follow-ups.
- Manage state and federal electronic filings, including ECF submissions, in compliance with New York court procedures.
- Prepare estate planning binders, real estate documents, closing materials, and organized case files.
- Scan, transcribe, index, and maintain digital and physical documents within the firm’s case management system.
- Provide professional front office support, including greeting clients, answering calls, routing messages, coordinating travel, and assisting with billing entries.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $55,000 to $65,000 per year.
- Location: Albany, NY.



Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support two attorneys with legal document preparation, calendaring, filings, client communication, and administrative coordination.
- Manage court deadlines, attorney schedules, travel logistics, case records, and legal office workflows.
- Prepare, proofread, scan, index, and organize legal correspondence, pleadings, discovery, estate planning materials, and closing documents.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of clerical experience, preferably in a law firm or litigation-focused environment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with New York State court procedures and general civil litigation terminology.
- Experience with state and federal electronic filing systems, including ECF.
- Strong typing accuracy, proofreading skills, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and remain composed in a busy legal office.
- Professional phone presence and willingness to assist clients, attorneys, and team members as needed.
- Collaborative, team-oriented attitude with flexibility to support attorneys and colleagues beyond assigned tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

- Personal injury law experience is highly preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Active Notary Public designation is a strong plus.
- Experience using law firm management software for billing entries, document management, or case tracking is preferred.
