Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant with experience in workers’ compensation law. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the Merus Case Management System and capable of supporting attorneys with administrative and case management tasks in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and legal staff
Manage and maintain case files using the Merus Case Management System
Draft, format, and proofread legal documents and correspondence
Handle calendaring of deadlines, hearings, and appointments
Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel professionally
Assist with filing (electronic and physical), including workers’ compensation forms
Track case progress and ensure compliance with deadlines and procedures
Perform general office duties such as answering phones and organizing records
Qualifications
Prior experience as a Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant preferred
Experience in workers’ compensation law strongly preferred
Proficiency with the Merus Case Management System (or similar legal software)
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with state workers’ compensation procedures and filings
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong client service mindset
Education
High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
