Job Title: Legal Assistant – Bankruptcy Department (Training Opportunity to Become Paralegal)

Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: $40,000–$50,000 range annually

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Legal Assistant to join our Bankruptcy Department. This position is ideal for someone eager to build a long-term career in bankruptcy law, with training and mentorship available to grow into a Bankruptcy Paralegal role.

As a Legal Assistant, you will provide essential support to attorneys and paralegals, ensuring clients receive professional and compassionate service while keeping cases organized and moving efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients throughout the bankruptcy process.
Serve as a liaison between clients, attorneys, courts, and other case parties.
Save and organize client documents for petitions, motions, and 341 Meetings.
Submit filings via the Bankruptcy Court Portal and Court’s electronic case system.
Draft Certificates of Service, Proofs of Service, and correspondence.
Register attorney attendance for Zoom hearings and meetings.
Manage calendars, schedule conference rooms, and coordinate through Google Calendar.
Navigate court websites and dockets to extract and organize case data.
Conduct legal research on bankruptcy laws, regulations, and procedures.
Provide general administrative support to attorneys, paralegals, and team members.

Qualifications

Strong desire to grow within the firm and become a bankruptcy paralegal.
Familiarity with Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with Clio Manage and Clio Grow preferred.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
