A growing organization is seeking a Legal Accounts Specialist (A/R) to support legal and asset management functions within accounts receivable. This role involves assisting with accounts requiring legal remedies such as repossessions, judgments, liens, and garnishments, while maintaining frequent communication with customers, attorneys, and third-party vendors. The position requires a hands-on approach, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to inbound calls and email inquiries regarding account details, payment history, balances, and contract terms
- Maintain accurate and detailed account notes within internal systems
- Support collections processes, including payment processing from customers, attorneys, and third parties
- Track legal expenses, maintain judgment calendars, and assist with case documentation
- Perform skip tracing and asset searches to support legal and repossession efforts
- Monitor payment plans and assist with bankruptcy filings and related documentation
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for repossessions and recovery processes
- Assist with reporting, data entry, and administrative support across the A/R and legal teams
- Handle additional administrative duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; additional education in a legal or related field is a plus
1–2 years of collections or accounts receivable experience preferred
- Familiarity with relevant regulations (e.g., FDCPA, FCRA) is a plus
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Office-based role with frequent sitting and computer use
- Regular interaction via phone and email
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
- Fast-paced environment with moderate to high workload demands
Compensation: $19-20 an hour DOE
Temp to hire position
Full time (Mon-Fri)
