Job Summary

A well-established law firm in downtown Orlando is seeking a Legal Accountant to join its accounting team on a direct hire basis. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys a collaborative, detail-oriented environment and wants to support financial operations within the legal services industry.

The Legal Accountant will work closely with the Controller, attorneys, legal staff, vendors, and firm leadership while supporting accounting, billing, reporting, trust accounting, and compliance functions. Key Responsibilities

- Support daily accounting operations, including reconciliations, financial record maintenance, and month-end and year-end close activities.
- Manage accounts payable functions, including vendor invoices, reimbursements, payment processing, and vendor account follow-up.
- Assist with accounts receivable, collections, aging reports, billing issue resolution, prebills, client invoices, and billing adjustments.
- Handle trust accounting and IOLTA activity, including reconciliations, transactions, and compliance-related documentation.
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, operational reporting, payroll support, audit documentation, and year-end reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and maintain confidentiality of financial and client information.

Compensation and Benefits

- Direct hire opportunity.
- Salary range: $65,000 to $85,000 per year.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, full-time.
- Work arrangement: 100% onsite in downtown Orlando, FL 32801.
- Paid parking provided.

- No direct reports.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support accounting operations, reconciliations, close processes, and financial reporting.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, legal billing, and vendor payments.
- Handle trust accounting and IOLTA reconciliations with accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with payroll administration, audits, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting practices, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys, staff, vendors, and leadership.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and client information.

Preferred Qualifications

- Law firm or professional services accounting experience.
- Experience with legal accounting, legal billing, or trust accounting processes.
- Familiarity with legal billing software or accounting systems used in a law firm environment.
