Job Summary
The Learning and Development Specialist supports the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs that enhance employee performance, compliance, and professional growth within a healthcare setting. This role partners with clinical and non-clinical leaders to ensure staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to provide high-quality patient care and operate effectively in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and facilitate learning programs for clinical and non-clinical staff, including onboarding, compliance training, leadership development, and role-specific education
Collaborate with department leaders and subject matter experts to assess training needs and align learning initiatives with organizational goals
Manage and maintain learning content within a Learning Management System (LMS), including course assignments, tracking, and reporting
Support regulatory, accreditation, and compliance training requirements (e.g., HIPAA, patient safety, infection control, workplace safety)
Evaluate training effectiveness using feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, and recommend continuous improvements
Develop instructional materials such as presentations, e-learning modules, job aids, and facilitator guides
Coordinate training schedules, sessions, and logistics for in-person, virtual, and blended learning formats
Stay current on healthcare regulations, adult learning best practices, and emerging learning technologies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
Experience in learning and development, training, or organizational development, preferably within a healthcare or regulated environment
Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
Experience working with learning management systems and virtual learning platforms
Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder collaboration skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting clinical training or working in a hospital or healthcare system
Familiarity with healthcare compliance and accreditation standards
Instructional design or training certification (e.g., ATD, CPTD)
Experience with e-learning development tools
