Job Summary
We are seeking Laser/Punch Press Operators for urgent direct hire openings in Santa Ana, CA.
The Laser/Punch Press Operator will support production by operating equipment used to cut and process sheet metal components to specification. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a team-oriented shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor laser and punch press equipment to produce parts according to work orders, drawings, and specifications.
- Read and interpret basic blueprints, job travelers, and production instructions to ensure accurate part dimensions and quality.
- Inspect finished parts using measuring tools and visual checks to identify defects, burrs, or dimensional issues.
- Perform basic machine adjustments, material handling, and part loading or unloading to maintain efficient production flow.
- Follow safety procedures, quality standards, and shop practices while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate with leads, supervisors, and team members regarding production status, equipment concerns, and quality issues.
Compensation and Benefits
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Pay for Laser/Punch Operators: $21 to $34 per hour, depending on experience.
- 1st Shift: Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, with overtime and Saturdays as needed.
- 2nd Shift: Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with overtime and Saturdays as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Operate laser and punch press machinery in a sheet metal or precision manufacturing environment.
- Set up jobs, load materials, run parts, and monitor machine performance during production.
- Inspect completed parts for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications.
- Support production goals by working safely, efficiently, and collaboratively with the shop team.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred, although level 1 candidates may be considered.
- Experience operating laser cutting machines, punch press equipment, or related fabrication machinery.
- Ability to read basic blueprints, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Ability to use basic measuring tools and perform quality checks on manufactured parts.
- Must be able to complete an on-site skills assessment.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must meet ITAR requirements, including U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident status.
- Strong attendance, reliability, safety awareness, and willingness to work overtime or Saturdays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication, aerospace manufacturing, precision metal production, or a similar shop environment.
- Experience with CNC laser equipment, turret punch presses, or combination laser/punch systems.
- Ability to perform basic setups, machine adjustments, and troubleshooting.
