Job Summary
A Lab Technician opportunity is available in Cedar Rapids, IA for an experienced laboratory professional with a background in analytical testing, quality assurance, and food or beverage production environments. This contract/temporary role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on lab work, accurate documentation, process monitoring, and supporting high-quality production standards.
This position offers a steady Monday through Friday schedule, a collaborative team environment, and the opportunity to work with standard laboratory equipment, wet chemistry procedures, and LIMS reporting. The work environment values accuracy, communication, safety, and teamwork, with supportive leadership focused on maintaining strong quality systems and consistent plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process samples while performing analytical testing using instrumental and wet chemistry procedures.
- Conduct daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant to support quality and operational consistency.
- Document, analyze, and report test results, including timely communication with operations when process adjustments are needed.
- Enter, track, and report laboratory data using a Laboratory Information Management System, or LIMS.
- Perform light maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment to ensure accurate testing results.
- Maintain accurate testing records and follow FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and company standards.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $22.00 per hour.
- Job type: Contract/temporary.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Prepare and analyze laboratory samples using wet chemistry and instrumental testing methods.
- Monitor plant processes through routine testing and accurate data reporting.
- Maintain laboratory documentation and communicate results that support production quality.
- Support equipment accuracy through light maintenance, calibration, and proper lab procedures.
- 2 or more years of science-related education preferred.
- Experience with lab documentation and standard laboratory equipment, including pH meters, balances, and spectrophotometers.
- Familiarity with commercial software applications, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong math skills for laboratory calculations and test result interpretation.
- Ability to follow FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and internal quality and safety standards.
- Strong communication, organization, troubleshooting, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Experience level aligned with 6 to 10 years of professional laboratory, quality assurance, or production quality experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous plant or production environment experience.
- Experience in food and beverage production or a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with LIMS data entry and laboratory reporting systems.
- Background supporting production quality assurance, process monitoring, or compliance testing.
