Junior Staff Accountant

Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week
Salary: $55,000–$60,000 annually
Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 - on site
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Junior Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate thrives in a professional, team-oriented environment and demonstrates strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Prior experience in a law firm accounting environment is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily operations related to Accounts Payable, Banking, and Trust Accounts
Reconcile trust and operating bank accounts daily to identify electronic payments and debits
Support client trust account management, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Process vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements
Assist with Accounts Receivable tracking and follow-up
Monitor unapplied and on-account fee/disbursement balances and coordinate monthly applications with the Billing Coordinator
Maintain and update the electronic imaging system (Expert Image)
Complete sales and use tax filings for NY and NJ offices
Respond promptly to incoming requests and communications from the Northeast group
Prepare regular status reports on balances and transactions for management
Assist with ad-hoc reporting and reconciliations for regional offices
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a law firm environment
Experience with Aderant Expert, Elite, or similar legal accounting software
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
