About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Junior Claims Representative to join our team. This role involves technical claims management, including investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and adjustment of property and casualty claims. You will handle public liability claims, working independently within your settlement authority, while reviewing claim files and monitoring third-party administrator activity.
Key Responsibilities
• Adjust property and casualty claims from start to finish.
• Review and analyze accident reports, property damage, and bodily injury to determine liability.
• Conduct field accident investigations, including interviewing claimants, law enforcement, witnesses, and other parties.
• Obtain signed or recorded statements of incidents.
• Recommend case reserves and settlements within designated authority limits.
• Assist in gathering evidence, including photographs, diagrams, and measurements.
• Cooperate with litigation managers in defense of litigated claims.
• Serve as backup for the Claims Manager.
• Conduct training on risk management topics as needed.
• Assist in supervising claims assistants.
• Collaborate with supervisory and management personnel on accident review, loss prevention, and reporting processes.
Requirements
• License: North Carolina Property & Casualty Adjuster’s License (required)
• Education: BS/BA in Business or Insurance preferred
• Experience:
? Minimum 3 years as an Auto, General Liability, or Multi-Line Insurance Claims Adjuster
? Municipality experience strongly preferred
• Other:
? Compliance with NC Department of Insurance continuing education requirements
? Valid driver’s license with record meeting City of Charlotte standards for City Driving Permit
Skills & Abilities
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Computer literate
• Knowledge of NC insurance laws, investigative techniques, and P&C claims procedures
• Familiarity with public liability negligence laws and case law
• Ability to analyze facts, exercise sound judgment, and negotiate settlements
• Competence in performing unsupervised fieldwork and interviews
• Ability to evaluate medical reports and bodily injury claims for settlement purposes
