We are seeking a Junior Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity in San Juan, PR. This role is ideal for an entry-level accounting professional with 1 to 2 years of experience who is ready to grow their skills in accounts processing, reconciliations, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations.
The Junior Accountant will support accurate financial transactions, maintain organized records, assist with account reconciliations, and help ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Process incoming and outgoing accounting transactions accurately, including verifying, sorting, calculating, posting, and recording financial data.
- Prepare invoices, bank deposits, account documentation, and other accounting records with strong attention to accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with reconciliation of general and subsidiary bank accounts by gathering, balancing, and reviewing financial information.
- Generate financial reports and provide account and ledger status updates for management review.
- Maintain accounting controls by following internal policies and procedures and supporting compliance with federal, state, and local financial requirements.
- Protect confidential financial information through accurate recordkeeping, proper file retention, classification, and database backup support.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $14.50 to $15.00 per hour.
- Employment type: Temp-to-hire.
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoices, deposits, and day-to-day accounting transactions.
- Reconcile ledgers and bank accounts while verifying that transactions are complete, accurate, and properly posted.
- Prepare financial data, reports, and account status information for management.
- Maintain organized financial records and support compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1 to 2 years of accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or related experience.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Strong data entry skills and aptitude for working with numbers.
- Experience using spreadsheets and accounting software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accuracy, organization, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify discrepancies, solve problems, and support timely transaction resolution.
- Customer service and negotiation skills for communicating with clients and internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing invoices, bank deposits, reconciliations, and basic accounting reports.
- Familiarity with financial record retention, account classification, and accounting compliance procedures.
- Interest in continued professional development within accounting or finance.
